Laguna Plein Air Painters Association was founded in 1996 by Saim Caglayan with the united efforts of Ken Auster, Jacobus Baas, Cynthia Britain and John Cosby, who also form a large percent of the association's board of directors. The mission of LPAPA is to bring to public awareness the tradition of Plein Air painting, as well as the beauty of our natural and historic open spaces, their aesthetic value to our community and the necessity for their preservation. The organization has also been developed to assist the artists to advance in their work or career as an artist and bring them information and opportunities for advancement.
LPAPA has a 1,300 square foot studio that serves as a showplace for artist, permanent library with current periodicals, lecture hall, meeting place & live modeling sessions that occur three times a week.
Laguna Plein Air Painters Association has a figure and still life studio with live modeling sessions three times a week. Most plein air artists are also studio artists and the membership can benefit from our monthly Plein Air Paint Outs and also our live modeling sessions in our Studio, (LPAPA Headquarters).
Members of LPAPA benefit from our many juried and award winining exhibits throughout the year. There are also scheduled lectures and special events planned specially for the membership. |
