At No Square Theatre, our mission is our passion: to create performing opportunities for everyone in Laguna and surrounding communities regardless of age, experience, or training. More people go to community theater each year than to any other performing arts event, and since our founding in 1997, we have borne witness to the power of nonprofessional, not-for-profit theater to enhance lives on both sides of the footlights.

Each year, we perform musicals, concerts, readings, and workshops. We give an annual $1000 scholarship to an Laguna Beach High School senior. On countless occasions, our No Square Players also perform for free to help other organizations in the town where we love to live and work.

No Square Thatre also presents "Lagunatics" -- the hilarious musical roast of life on the coast. Created in 1992 by Bree Burgess Rosen, who later became a founding board member of No Square, this deeply silly annual tradition also has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for hometown charities such as Laguna Shanti, the Laguna Playhouse, Ballet Pacifica, Laguna Beach Community Clinic, Laguna Beach High School Artists Theatre, and the Forum Theatre. "Lagunatics 2005: Senior Prom" raised $50,000 for the Senior Center Building Fund.

In 2006, our performance schedule includes the world premiere of a radio play reading of "Last of the Carbon-Based Life Forms," a comedy by Chris Quilter. We also are presenting the first performances in Orange County of "Narnia" -- a musical based on the beloved novel by C. S. Lewis. Lagunatics 2006 will be performance in September, 2006, and later in the year we will mount a worthy successor to our sold-out "Sound of Music," in which our audience was the chorus for us.
